Precious Bugarin - Owner, Creative Director, Educator
Precious is (among other things) a designer, a teacher, a small business owner, a mother, and a wife. Her experience working with nonprofits began in the mid-nineties at Tsang Design in San Francisco where she sat through lively meetings with Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) and witnessed her creative director helping to craft their brand. At her studio in Portland, Oregon she’s had the privilege of working with such commendable organizations as Write Around Portland, The National Juvenile Justice Network, Reclaiming Futures, and Rosemary Anderson High School.
As a teacher, she began to share her enthusiasm for design at her alma mater, Academy of Art University. She currently teaches branding and typography at Portland State University and portfolio preparation at Portland Community College. She has been designing and teaching for nearly 20 years and can’t imagine doing anything else.
Gaby Tirta Jenkins - Designer, Project Manager
Gaby is a graphic designer and creative thinker who has been volunteering and working with nonprofit organizations since 2009. After spending a few years at a tech start-up, Gaby realized that her heart was really in impacting the world directly, so she began working with organizations such as PDX POP NOW!, Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon, and Elders in Action. She is excited to be working with Do Good Design.
Stories from our clients:
Working with Precious Bugarin Design for the past ten years has elevated the profile of Write Around Portland. They understand our mission and our values and translate that into a visual identity that both captures who we are now and provides room for us to grow into where we are headed. Precious Bugarin Design has designed our logo, books, event invitations, and more and in so doing has helped us reach more people than we would have otherwise. Plus, everyone on the team is a real joy to work with. We all look forward to design presentation days.

I love working with Precious, and she's the first person I think of whenever I need design work done. She asks sharp questions and seeks clarification, keeps in touch on progress, and delivers great work on time. She always surprises me in the best way—her designs sparkle with creativity, thoughtfulness, and careful attention to the goals of the client.

Feedback from Precious's students:
Precious has an innate ability to get the best out of her students by encouraging their unique abilities and pushing them to go beyond their comfort zones to create work that surpasses their expectations. Having worked with so many branding clients over the years, Precious understands her clients' needs and is able to successfully communicate to her students what to expect in a myriad of situations. Her working background and intimate understanding of the nature of branding are the keys to her success as as teacher (not to mention her positive attitude and seemingly boundless energy!).
—Ryan Ricketts, former student PSU, 2015
Precious is an educator through and through. She gets down to business immediately, pushing her students to be better designers, better thinkers and, ultimately, better people. She encourages her students to find the best solution and then teaches them how to trust that they've found it.
